Abstract

1361886 N-Formyl-DL-homocysteine thiolactone FWEAU SA 17 March 1972 [18 March 1971] 12633/72 Heading C2C The novel title compound is prepared by reacting DL-homocysteine thiolactone hydrochloride with a mixture of acetic anhydride and formic acid. Pharmaceutical compositions, suitable for oral administration, contain the above compound together with suitable excipients. The compound possesses hepatoprotective properties and is used in the treatment of hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver.
