Abstract

1510431 Dibenzopyranols ABBOTT LABORATORIES 9 Jan 1976 [13 Jan 1975] 00884/76 Heading C2C Novel compounds I and II in which R 1 is H or C 3-20 alkyl, are prepared by reacting phloroglucinol, or a mono-C 3-20 alkyl ether thereof, with trans-p-menthadiene-2,8- ol-1 in the presence of a strong acid and an organic solvent to give a compound I which is then converted into a compound II by the addition and subsequent elimination of HCl. Anti-hypertensive compositions, for oral or parenteral administration, comprise a compound I or II together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
