Abstract

1361543 Axial flow fans KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 20 Jan 1972 [8 Feb 1971] 2753/72 Heading F1C An axial flow fan comprises guide wheel 2 and hub 4 cast integrally with a tubular housing 5, and a second guide wheel 3, the vanes on the integral guide wheel 2 being arranged so they do not overlap in the axial direction and the vanes on the second guide wheel 3 being arranged so that they overlap in the axial direction at least near the hub. As shown housing 5 guide wheel 2 and hub 4 are of light metal and guide wheel 3 is of glass fibre reinforced plastics and is snap-fitted, shrunk or adhered to the hub 4. Impeller 6, downstream of guide wheels 2, 3 (but may be located upstream) is driven mechanically by bevel wheel, connecting rod or chain gear, or hydraulically or pneumatically through a hollow vane 7 provided in the integral guide wheel 2. The vanes on the two guide wheels may be arranged so that a slotted wing effect is obtained at the transition point between them.
