Abstract

1361493 Polyvinyl fluoride compositions EI DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 17 June 1971 [18 June 1970] 28397/71 Heading C3P [Also in Division G1] A coating composition comprises 5 to 50% of the total composition of a polymer mixture of 25-99% of polyvinyl fluoride and 1-75% of an acrylic polymer containing carboxylic acid groups, and 40 to 85% of the total composition of a solvent mixture of at least 35% of propylene carbonate and/or butyrolactone, 5-12% of a C 1 -C 3 alkyl alcohol, and isophorone. In examples the acrylic polymer was methyl methacrylate/butyl acrylate/itaconic acid or methyl methacrylate/itaconic acid or methyl methacrylate/itaconic acid/fluorinated methacrylate copolymer and the solvent mixture was propylene carbonate, isophorone and isopropyl alcohol. Titanium dioxide and an epoxy resin stabilizer are also included and in one example a solution of a methyl methacrylate/3-(2<SP>1</SP>-methacryloxyethyl)-2-spirocyclohexyl oxazolidine in a mixture of butyrolactone and aromatic hydrocarbons is also added.
