Abstract
1361070 Electro-physical tests; measuring electric fields T SATSUTANI 8 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41971/71 Headings G1N and G1U In a coaxial type atmospheric ion content or electric field measuring apparatus the central electrode 1, exposed to the atmosphere, is supported by insulators 3 which are earthed. Such an arrangement removes interference of the impressed voltage on conductor 1 and any disturbance of atmospheric conditions in the measuring of electric potential in the absence of a collector. Ion content measuring apparatus Fig. 1 includes an earthed shield tube 2 supporting insulators 3 and an electrode sleeve 4 to which may be applied a voltage from source E. Air is passed through the device and the ionic current sensed by conductor 1 amplified at B and recorded at D. Electric field measuring apparatus Fig. 2 (not shown) has one end of the central electrode 1 of Fig. 1 arranged to protrude from shield 2. Electrode sleeve 4 is omitted and the central electrode 1 is connected to a meter and recording apparatus. Reference is made to the apparatus being used to measure atmospheric humidity.
