Abstract

1360652 Agricultural implements WOLSELEY ENG Ltd 19 July 1972 [31 July 1971] 36118/71 Heading A1B [Also in Division B7] A cultivator of the kind comprising a transverse shaft for supporting two or more rotors carrying tines which both till the ground and, propel the cultivator forwardly is provided with forward and reverse transmissions from a common engine driven shaft 24 to two rotor shaft portions, whereby each portion can be in forward, reverse or neutral gear irrespective of the other portion. Coaxial shafts 16, 18 provided with two carrying rotors 20, 22 respectively are driven through individual gear boxes 52 controlled by selectors 54, 56. The driven shaft 24 drives lay shafts 28, 30 through vee-belts 36, 38 engaging pulleys 32, 38, the belts being tensioned to effect driving by jockey wheels 40 on arms 42 actuated by Bowden cables 44. Turning of the cultivator is effected by engaging forward gear in one gear box and reverse gear in the opposite gear to cause turning of the cultivator on its own axis.
