Abstract

899,733. Seed sowing machines. MASSEYFERGUSON S.A. Oct. 27, 1958 [Oct. 28,1957], No. 33483/57. Class 6(1). [Also in Group XXIV] A drive assembly for a seed drill comprising a main input drive driven at a speed proportional to the speed of forward travel of the seed drill and a branch drive 45 arranged to drive an agitator and a branch drive 61 arranged to drive material feed devices through a selectively variable speed unit 54 (see Group XXIV). As shown the drive is taken from a tractor power take-off shaft by means of a flexible drive 10 to a worm 22 which drives a worm 23 which drives a shaft 25 through a spring clutch 27. Spiders 38, 50 are fixed in the shaft 25 and drive branch shafts 40, 52 respectively through resilient rings 39, 51, The shafts 40, 52 drive shafts 43, 53 respectively by means of a similar arrangement of resilient rings and spiders. The shaft 43 drives the shaft 45 through chain gearing 46. The shaft 53 forms the input shaft of the unit 54, the output shaft 60 of which drives the shaft 61 through chain gearing 62. The shaft 25 may be driven from a rear wheel of the tractor through an endless drive.
