1359880 Hydrogenation catalysts BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 11 Nov 1971 [12 Nov 1970] 52453/71 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] A catalyst containing 18% wt. of cobalt, 2.5% wt. of copper, 0.7% of manganese and 0.5 wt. phosphoric acid (as P 2 O 5 ) on aluminium oxide is prepared by twice impregnating aluminium oxide strands with a mixture of aqueous solutions of the salts of the metals and phosphoric acid, spraying on the remainder of the solution while hot, drying the catalyst and and annealing at 800‹C. The manganese in this catalyst may be replaced by chromium. A catalyst containing 10% wt. of Co, 8% wt. of Ni, 1.5% wt. of Cu, 0.7% wt. of Mn and 0.5% wt. of phosphoric acid on aluminium oxide is prepared by adding Na 2 CO 3 solution to a solution of the metal salts containing phosphoric acid and suspended aluminium oxide powder to precipitate the metal salts on the aluminium oxide, separating the precipitate, washing it free from alkali, drying and heating in a muffle furnace to remove carbonate, shaping the resulting catalyst and annealing at 650‹C.
