Abstract

135,915. Suffit, R. Courtois-. Sept. 6, 1917, [Convention date]. Sounding-apparatus.-To indicate to the pilot of an aircraft his proximity to the ground, the difference between the aerodynamic reactions at two points on the machine at different levels is measured. The apparatus comprises an aneroid bulb b in an air-tight chamber c connected respectively through tubes t, t' with funnels at different levels on the aircraft. Motion is transmitted through levers L, m, m<1>, d to an indicator a. The zero may be adjusted by screws p, p<1>, and a correction for speed made by a second bulb b<1>.
