Abstract
1359094 Excavator tooth assembly BARBER-GREENE CO 1 March 1972 [1 March 1971] 9657/72 Heading E1F A digger tooth 12 is releasably secured about the nose 16 of a bucket-mountable shank 11 by a retainer bar 23 that can engage the forward face of a member 21 projecting into a recess 20 in the nose of the shank when the bar, which, when the tooth is mounted on the nose, is retained by the tooth entirely within the socket, is moved from a position in which it does not engage with the member 21 to a position in which it engages with the member. Preferably the bar, which has an upwardly opening notch 33 that is wider than the member 21, is located in a passage 25 that extends through the nose, intersects the recess 20 and is, when the tooth is mounted on the nose in alignment with openings 32 in the side walls of the nose-receiving socket of the tooth. The openings 32 which are of smaller cross section than the passage afford access to the bar to enable it to be moved to and fro in the passage. The bar is of rectangular form and may have a resilient, compressed insert 37 that retains the bar by its expansive force in the position to which it has been moved in the passage.
