Abstract

1359093 Delivering sheets ARENCO-PMB NV 1 March 1972 [12 March 1971] 9607/72 Heading B8R Sheets 2, such as tobacco leaves, are conveyed on the lower surface of a conveyer 1 such as a suction belt to a stacking position above a table 3, and are then released to fall on to the table and form a stack thereon. During the feeding of each sheet, the table is moved downwards and upwards by a parallel link member 11 actuated by a cam 5 in synchronism with the feed. A mechanical drive device is arranged between the cam and the table so that at the top of each successive upward stroke the table is lower by the thickness of a sheet. In one form, Fig. 1 (not shown), a vertical rod supporting the table is moved upwards to successively lower positions, while in another form, Fig. 2, a holder 10 is reciprocated upwardly to the same height, while the table 3 is moved downwardly one step relative to the holder by means of a rack fixed to the table and engaging a pinion rotatably mounted in the holder, the pinion being moved by a ratchet mechanism during each cycle. When a completed stack is removed, the ratchet mechanism is released and compression springs 29 return the table to its original position relative to the holder with a movement which is damped by piston-rods within the springs and secured to the table sliding in cylinders 30 secured to the holder.
