Abstract

1358937 Plastic egg boxes PLASTONA (JOHN WADDINGTON) Ltd 8 Feb 1973 [9 Feb 1972] 5948/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division B8] Synthetic plastics sheeting is formed with a fold line which is intersected by a rib or ridge 14 formed in the sheeting such folding of the sheeting along the fold line creating sufficient stress in the sheeting at the zone of intersection to fracture the sheeting at the zone. As shown plastics sheeting, e.g. high impact polystyrene is provided with a hinge groove 12 such that hingeing of the sheeting about the groove 12 fractures the sheeting at a notched intersection region 16 to facilitate pulling apart of the sections of the sheeting on opposite sides of the ridge 14. In an application to an egg box comprising two sections each intended to hold six eggs, and formed by panels 24, 26 hingeable about lines 22, the sections are detachable along a ridge 30 intersecting the hinge lines 22.
