1358733 Polyurethanes WITCO CHEMICAL CORP 16 Aug 1971 38304/71 Heading C3R Polyurethanes are prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate with a polyether which is an alkylene oxide adduct of a trimethylol phenol compound, a dimer thereof, a trimer thereof and/or a tetramer thereof, the trimethylol phenol having the formula The reaction may be carried out in the presence of a blowing agent to prepare polyurethane foams. Tolylene diisocyanate is the preferred polyisocyanate. The trimethylol phenol is preferably reacted with propylene oxide to form the polyether. Catalysts and/or foam stabilizers may also be incorporated in the reaction mixture.
