Abstract

1358322 Electro-photography OCE VAN DER GRINTEN NV 7 Dec 1971 [ 7 Dec 1970] 56795/71 Heading G2H Two photo-conductive webs are passed alternately through charging, imagewise exposing, developing and transfer stations by means of adjustable guide means, one web passing through the stations while both webs pass from respective stock reels or a common stock reel to a common take-up reel and the other web passing through the stations while both webs pass from the common take-up reel to the stock reel or reels. As shown, a web 13 passes from a stock reel 10 within a stationary guide drum 1 through stations round the drum to a common take-up reel 12, while a web 14 passes from a stock reel 11 within the drum directly to the common take-up reel. On rotation of the drum through 360 degrees, the roles of the webs are reversed. In a modification, the stock reels 10 and 11 are replaced by a common stock reel (15), Fig. 2 (not shown) and movable guide rolls (16 and 17). In a further modification, the stock reels are outside the drum and the common take-up reel is inside the drum, in which case the drum is rotated through 210 degrees or less to reverse the web roles Fig. 3 (not shown). In a further embodiment, the guide-member is in the form of rollers, each at the corner of a square and adjacent a processing station Fig. 4 (not shown) or in the form of rollers at the ends of a linear path along which the processing stations are situated Fig. 5 (not shown). The web roles may be reversed automatically with the aid of a scanning mechanism.
