Abstract

1356786 Rucksacks NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 10 June 1971 [17 June 1970] 29473/70 A load carrier device on the back of a person comprises a frame 1 having a front wall recessed at 4 to the contour of an inflatable or resilient pad 5 so that about a half of the pad protudes to cushion the load on the back, and a rigid box carrier 17-22 for the load which may have a lid 36, with upper and lower reinforcing bars 23, 24 with locating pegs 25 and hooks 27 engaging upper and lower frame reinforcing bars 8, 13 with an upper central bolt and nut whereby different sized carriers may be secured to the frame. Shoulder straps may be anchored on lower end bolts 33 and the central bolt. The frame and carrier may be of moulded plastics. In a further embodiment the frame may be supported by curved extensions embracing the shoulders and hips which are provided with inflatable or resilient pads, and locating body straps replace the normal support straps.
