Abstract
1356654 Foam delivery apparatus CHUBB FIRE SECURITY LTD 24 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 17193/71 Heading ASA [Also in Division F2] Foam delivery apparatus for fire fighting purposes includes a foam generator arranged to supply foam to a foam delivery tube 10 from the delivery end of which foam will be ejected when the apparatus is in use, wherein the foam delivery tube is provided with upstanding protuberances 16 at the bottom of its internal surface. The tube 10 is connected by a pivot joint 4 to a pipeline 2 whereby it can be swept through an arc of from 20‹ to 40‹; the axis of rotation of the pivot joint 4 being between 5‹ and 40‹ to the vertical. The protuberances may be formed by a sheet of expanded metal arcuate in section and adapted to lie in the bottom of the tube so that it extends around 0.1 to 0.2 times the inner circumference of the tube, and the protuberances, the upturned walls of the expanded metal extend upwardly in the range of 2% to 4% of the tube diameter. A further sleeve of expanded metal (18) Fig. 3 (not shown) may be inserted in the tube 10 remote from the end portion thereof containing the expanded metal sheet 16.
