Abstract
1356474 Light guides BARR & STROUD Ltd 29 Aug 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 51914/71 Heading G2J A fibre-optic bundle which is sheathed, the assembly being electrically conductive, e.g. by metal coil 16 forming part of the sheath, is terminated by a hollow spigot member 12 made of electrically insulating material, a clamping means 13, 20, co-operating with the end of the spigot member 12 remote from the exit face to retain the bundle, and a metallic member 11 surrounding a portion of the insulant, the metallic member being held out of contact with the guide by the insulant. The bundle may be sheathed by metal coil 16, a woven material 17 and silicone rubber 18, and the metallic coil 16 at least is stripped from the end to which the terminal is to be attached. The spigot member may be of PTFE, and an epoxy cement may be utilized at the interfaces.
