1356055 Heat-developable photographic materials EASTMAN KODAK CO 2 Sept 1971 [8 Sept 1970] 41061/71 Heading G2C A heat-developable, photo-sensitive photographic material contains in a layer or layers (i) a reducible silver salt of a long chain fatty acid e.g. silver behenate, (ii) a reducing agent, e. g 2: 2' -dihydroxy - 1:1' -binaphthyl, (iii) a photo-sensitive compound which on exposure initiates reaction between (i) and (ii) above, e.g. a silver halide, and (iv) a merocyanine dye of the formula: - wherein Z completes a benzothiazole, thiazoline or benzoxazole nucleus, Q completes a rhodanine, thiohydantoin or 2-thio-2:4-oxazolidinedione nucleus containing in the 3-position a carboxymethyl, carboxyethyl, carboxypropyl or aminoalkyl group, R is methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl and R 1 is H, methyl or ethyl. Phthalimide and succinimide toning agents; polar organic solvents; zinc, cadmium or copper acetates; stabilizer precursors; and orium compounds may also be present.
