Abstract

135,579. Grant, J. C. Nov. 25, 1918. Casting knobs and handles; moulds.-Small articles such as door-knobs, beer-engine handles, &c. are cast in Portland cement &c. in a mould constructed of thin metal partially split at 4, 5 and divided in two portions 1, 2. The incisions 4, 5 are closed in the casting process by enclosing the mould in a casing 6, 7 which, when removed, allows the metal to spring and release the moulded article which can thus be removed without handling and before hardening is complete. The meeting edges of the halves 1, 2 are bevelled or cut away so as to overlap slightly. A core, metal ferrule, &c. may be placed within the mould.
