1355285 Trailers TASKERS TRAILERS Ltd 31 Jan 1973 [31 Jan 1972] 4452/72 Heading B7B In a trailer wherein a load platform 10 is pivotally and removably mounted by one end on a swan neck 15, releasable locking means in the form of a wedge 22 is provided to resist pivotal movement between the platform and the swan neck and actuating means in the form of a bell crank lever 30 acts between the swan neck and the platform to cause pivotal movement therebetween to raise or lower that end of the swan neck relative to the ground when the locking means is released. In a preferred embodiment the wedge 22 is carried on an arm 25, Fig. 2, pivoted to the neck 15 and which can be swung into and out of engagement with a shoulder 23 of the neck 15 and any upper surface 24 of the platform 10 by a piston and cylinder device 26. A main actuator, 33, Fig. 1, is pivotally mounted in the neck 15 with its piston-rod pivotally attached to a free end of lever 30. The actuator may be a single or double acting hydraulic cylinder or may take the form of a single acting hand operated jack unit, Fig. 5 (not shown), or may be pneumatic or in the form of a screw jack or cable mechanism either manually or electrically operated. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 4, a latch member 40 is pivotally mounted on the platform 10 and resiliently biased by a spring 42 so that when the wedge 22 is removed and platform 10 lowered the neck 15 can be carried forwards, the latch member 40 riding up over spigots 21.
