Abstract
1354858 Extruding DIEHL 27 June 1972 29935/72 Heading B3P [Also in Division B8] A run-out track in a metal extrusion press comprises a plate 6 provided with one or more rows of air nozzles 7 which serve to cool the extruded product, e.g. a pipe and prevent surface damage by supporting the product above the track. The track may have side walls 4, 5. The nozzles 7 may be circular or elongated and be directed slightly in the extrusion direction. Solenoid valves control the nozzles and the valves are opened in sequence as the product moves along the track. The movement of the product is sensed photo-electrically or thermoelectrically or by the pressure of the press ram which controls a pressure switch (p), Fig. 6 (not shown), of a control circuit including a timedelay switching chain for the valves.
