Abstract

1354096 Workpiece clamps PIERCE-ALL MFGLtd 24 Sept 1971 [24 Sept 1970] 45549/70 Headings B3W and B3B A clamp for holding a workpiece to a machine, bed for a piercing, drilling, notching &c. operation comprises a rod 22 movable along a bore 14 in a clamp body 10 and having a head 24 the surface 26 of which co-operates with a camming face 16 on the body the surface 28 being parallel with a clamping face 18 on the body. The rod is moved to clamping position by the piston 50 of an hydraulic cylinder 44 acting against a nut 46 mounted on a threaded portion 23 of the rod. The clamping action draws the workpiece against a locating face 34. A spring 40 returns the rod to non-clamping position. A pin 32 on the head 24 engages a groove 20 in the face 16 to prevent rotation of the rod. Several clamps may be operated simultaneously and each preferably has several rods with different sized heads.
