The drive comprises a pair of cranks or eccentrics 10, 12 to impart rocking to the holder 36 and a further crank or eccentric to effect slight axial reciprocation the machining tool comprises a rotatable cutter 46 mounted on a shaft 48 which is axially moved by a drive 58 in synchronism with the workpiece holder. The cutter 46 is radially adjusted by means of a follower pin 60 and a template 70. The edge surfaces of the jaws may be flattened after machining.
