Abstract

1352918 Spraying beam H J HOEGEN DIJKHOF GmbH 8 July 1971 [8 July 1970] 32122/71 Heading AID In an apparatus for pest control spraying of land, a spraying beam is freely suspended from a vehicle 1 about an axis 3 and includes a device by which the centre of gravity 5 of the beam can be displaced laterally from the vertical plane 6 passing through axis 3 in the horizontal position of the beam. The device may incorporate trimming weights 10, 11 displaceable longitudinally along the beam by wires 16 led directly to the driver's seat or to an electrically driven pulley or drum 15, or may comprise a mechanism, e.g. a threaded spindle 22 rotated by motor 23 to move a nut 32 pivotally connected to a suspension arm which is pivotally connected to the vehicle at axis 3 and to the beam at its centre of gravity 5. Drum 15 or motor 23 may be actuated automatically by control-signal emitters 18-20 operated by angular deviation of the beam relative to the vehicle body member 12 above a permitted degree. As shown in Fig. 7 a parallelogram system of links 21, 24-26 supporting the beam and incorporating the control-signal emitter has an adjustable link 24 which when adjusted can cause the emitter to transmit before or after the permitted value of inclination so as to allow for the suspension of the vehicle. A damping device, preferably hydraulic, may be attached to arm 18 of the emitter to prevent over-actuation of the emitter due to pitching on uneven ground. Control-signal emitters for sensing the ground surface may be provided at the ends of the beams.
