Abstract

1352808 Oscillators MARCONI CO Ltd 20 June 1972 [24 June 1971] 28816/72 Heading H3F A temperature compensating arrangement for a quartz crystal comprises converting means 1 for deriving a first voltage proportional to temperature, means responsive to its output to generate therefrom a voltage inversely representative of the #f/f versus temperature of the crystal 4, the responsive means including provision for one or more fixed voltages representative of constants in the said characteristic to form part of the inversely representative voltage, and means 3 responsive to the inversely representative voltage to vary the effective reactance controlling the operative frequency of the crystal. Correction for a cubic characteristic is obtained, the output from device 1 being applied to the two inputs 6, 8 of an analogue multiplier 2a: input 7 is earthed and a fixed voltage representative of a constant in the characteristic is applied to input 10. The output from device 1 is also applied to one input 8 of a second analogue multiplier 2b, inputs 6, 7 of which receive outputs from multiplier 2a and input 11 a fixed voltage representative of a second constant in the characteristic.
