Abstract
816,661. Automatic frequency control systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. March 7, 1957 [May 31, 1956], No. 16858/56. Class 38 (4). A frequency changer for changing an input frequency F1 by a small amount to an output frequency F4 comprises oscillators F2, F3 for successively reducing the input frequency F1 to (F1 - F2) and increasing it to (F1 +F3 - F2)= F4 and stabilizing means for the small frequency difference (F2 - F3) comprising a frequency mixer 8 and discriminator 10 with cross-over frequency (F2 - F3), D.C. amplifier 11 and variable reactance 4, controlling the frequency of oscillator F2 (or both oscillators F2, F3 in opposite senses) to make (F2 - F3) constant. An adjustable D.C. potential may also be superimposed on the control voltage to vary the stabilized value (F2-F3).
