Abstract

This voltage controlled oscillator may be tuned over a wide frequency range. It has compensation for the non-linearity of the varicap diode characteristic in the oscillator in the form of a similar varicap diode in the active integrator which forms part of the control loop. A voltage controlled oscillator (1) which includes a varicap diode (3) is followed by a mixer (4), a discriminator (6) and an active integrator (7) with a variable time constant due to another varicap diode. The two diodes are of the same type to give complete compensation.
