Abstract

1352103 Endless conveyers SAUNTER DWAL 26 April 1972 [27 April 1971 21 March 1972] 19413/72 Heading B8A An endless conveyer for transferring containers 6 between horizontal endless belts 5, 8 comprises blocks B and pivots C for connecting arms 2 to chains 1. Assuming the chains to be driven in the indicated direction, Fig. 1, as the pivot connection C1 moves around an upper sprocket the free end A1 of an arm moves on a path A2, A3, A4 which is longer than that followed by the chains 1 around the upper sprocket. A container 6 on the belt 5 is picked up by a pair of the arms 2 and, during its lowering movement becomes aligned with the chains. On approaching the lower belt 8 the container moves clear of the chains and is deposited on the belt. In a modification, Fig. 3, by providing a further upper sprocket, the height of the path A4, A5 followed by the free end of the arm 2 is reduced. The free ends of the arms 2 may have container gripping devices. The conveyer is reversible.
