Abstract

1352004 Fire alarm systems CERBERUS AG 30 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 35991/71 Heading G4N [Also in Division G1] A fire alarm system comprises means for removing air samples from spaces, 1, 2 to be monitored for the presence of fire, means for filtering these samples 8, 9 at least for non- gaseous components and means for detecting 10 the presence of carbon monoxide in the samples. A plurality of ducts 4 opening into the chambers 1, 2 may be employed each with a mechanical dust filter 3 at their entrances and each leading to a respective magnetically operated valve in an array 5, the outputs of each valve opening to a common duct 6 in which a pump 7 is housed, the duct continuing through the filters 8, 9 to the detector 10. The valves 5 are controlled by pulse circuits in a source 18 such that they are opened in sequential rotation, the detector 10 producing an electrical output causing activation of an alarm circuit 11 for both a remote warning 14 and a warning 16 adjacent the fire, which warnings may be audio or visual. The alarm signal modifies the action of the circuits 18 so that the valve open when the CO was sensed is caused to remain open longer in the cycle, and the pump 7 is caused to pump at greater speed. Numerous embodiments for the detector 10 are described (see Division G1).
