Abstract

1351615 Vehicle lighting systems JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 2 Sept 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 48062/70 Heading H2H A vehicle lighting system comprises a headlamp switch 12, a side and tail lamp switch 13 and switches 31, 32 controlling auxiliary lamps 33, 34, the system enabling the auxiliary lamps to be energized only when the switch 13 is in its on position and ensuring that both auxiliary lamps are energized when either of the switches 31, 32 is closed but with the switch 13 in the on position and the switch 12 in the off position. The system includes a terminal 11 connected to the positive terminal of the vehicle battery, side lamps 28, tail lamps 29, main beam headlamps 26, dipped beam headlamps 27 and a dip switch 25. When a movable contact 19 of the switch 13 is moved from the "off" position as shown to the "on" position, the side and tail lamps are energized via contacts 23, 24 and since movable contact 14 is in its off position, closure of either of the switches 31 or 32 energizes both the lamps 33, 34. The switches 12, 13 are mechanically coupled so that if the switch 12 is moved to the "on" position to energize the headlamps, the switch 13 is also moved to its "on" position to energize the side and tail lamps and either of the auxiliary lamps may be energized by closing the respective switch 31, 32.
