1289343 Road traffic signals on vehicles JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 20 Jan 1970 [3 Feb 1969 29 May 1969] 5608/69 and 27145/69 Heading G4Q In a road vehicle lighting system in which rear direction indicating flashing lamps 16, 18 and stop lamps 25 are dimmed when the vehicle lights are switched on, the lighting switch has an additional position to restore full illumination of the dimmed lamps in adverse weather conditions. When the side and rear lights 26, 30 are switched on at S4, switches S1 S2, S3 open so as to introduce resistors 19, 21, 23 into the flashing and stop light circuits. Switch S6 is closed to provide a dip-dim beam at 28. In further positions of the switch S4 (a) full power is supplied to headlamps 28, 29 by closing switch S5; (b) short circuits are removed from the resistors 19, 21, 23 so as to restore the dimmed lights to full brightness, but the side and rear lights remain energized.
