Abstract

1351319 Centrifugal strainer G STOEWER 29 Nov 1971 [9 Dec 1970] 55340/71 Heading B1D A centrifugal strainer comprising a frustoconical screen (not shown) attached to and rotating with an internal body 1 carrying helical blades 2 which guide the slurry delivered to the narrow end (Fig. 1, not shown) rotates in the direction of the arrow, the sides of blades 2 nearer to the wide end leading. This direction of rotation is stated to reduce power requirements, centrifuge wear and damage to delicate solid particles in the slurry. The apex angle of the body 1 and screen may be 40 to 150 degrees and the angular extent of each blade 2 may be 30 to 450 degrees. Housing 5, 6 is illustrated as secured to rotate with the body 1 and screen (3) in Fig. 1 (not shown).
