1351241 Ethylene glycol esters HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc 22 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 10817/71 Addition to 1272820 Heading C2C Ethylene glycol esters are prepared by contacting ethylene and molecular oxygen in an oxidation zone comprising a carboxylic acid in the liquid phase and a catalyst which comprises a non-basic form of bromine and tellurium metal cation, at least a part of the bromine being provided in non-basic form, the pH of the reaction medium during the course of oxidation being maintained at lesss than 2À0. The non- basic form of bromine is suitably bromine, hydrobromic acid, a tellurium bromide or an organic bromine compound.
