Abstract
1351196 Container closures F FELLER [trading as BAYERISCHE ALUMINIUM UND METALLWARENFABRIK FRIEDRICH FELLER] 12 May 1971 [13 May 1970 8 July 1970] 14416/71 Heading B8T [Also in Division F2] A valve-like closure for a container such as a beer cask, comprises two permanent magnets which are hingedly connected to one another, one of the magnets being fixed relative to the container whilst the other is movable and constitutes the closing member. The magnets are preferably encased in a plastics material with the same material being used for the hinge between the magnets. A bunghole screw stopper 1 has a plastics material ring 3 secured thereto by way of a groove 2, the ring carrying one end of a plastics material flap 4 the other end of which carries a permanent magnet 9 encased in a plastics material sheath 5. The sheath includes a locating extension 7. An annular permanent magnet 8 encased in plastics material is located within the stopper. When used in association with a tap hole reinforcement 20, a first plastics-covered annular magnet 23 is fixed to the reinforcement by way of a coupling 22, 26 whilst the other plasticscovered magnet 25 is hingedly connected to the first magnet by way of a plastics material flap 24. Magnet 25 may be an annular or a discshaped magnet. The plastics cover of magnet 23 may have a conical skirt bonded to the exterior of a reinforcement (30), pressure being applied to the skirt by a coiled wire tool introduced through the reinforcement. A modified form of the closure, (Fig. 4), is said to be usable as a screw stopper for a bung hole, the closure including a dust cap (47).
