Abstract
1351189 Textile fibre impregnating apparatus PAVENA AG 7 Oct 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 46710/71 Heading D1L Apparatus for impregnating a fibre sliver 15 comprises a pair of contra-rotating discs 1, 2 which are enclosed on either side by two cover plates 3, 4 having raised pressure surfaces 5, 6 opposed to the side faces 7, 8 of the discs and forming with the discs a pressure zone, the cover plates also having openings 10, 11 and 12, 13 for supplying impregnating liquid which is introduced through conduits 14 to the faces 7, 8 of the two discs. The impregnating liquid is fed to each of the openings under equal and high pressure so that the discs, which move freely in the axial direction, are automatically aligned to rotate in the centre of clearance between the surfaces 5, 6 of the cover plates. The disc 2 may be movable with respect to disc 1 as shown in Fig. 1 so that the nip at pressure zone D may be adjusted to the thickness of the fibre sliver passing therethrough. The cover plates 3, 4 may be rigidly connected together with a fixed clearance by studs 9 or they may be resiliently and adjustably pressed against the face sides of the discs by resilient securing elements [Fig. 5, not shown], the clearance between the discs and the cover plates being adjusted by altering the pressure (P) of the impregnating liquid.
