1350964 Steam generators RAYPAK PRODUKTEN NV 19 April 1971 [25 March 1970] 25260/71 Heading F4A A steam generator comprises a water heater 1 connected by supply and delivery pipes 3, 4 including a circulating pump 5, to a steam/ water drum 2 having a steam outlet 12, feed water level control 10 and a sludge drain device 13 comprising a valve 20, Fig. 3, with a chamber 23 for receiving water and sludge from the drum 2 and movable into a discharge position 24, 25. The heater 1 comprises a plurality of parallel finned tubes between headers 18 providing reverse flow, and heated by a gas burner 19. Supply pipe 3 contains the pump 5 and delivery pipe 4, a flow valve 6 admitting hot water to the drum 2 above the water level which is determined by the device 10 controlling a fresh water inlet valve 8. A high level water control 11 is also fitted. The controls 10, 11 may also act to shut off the gas burner 19. A pair of drain valves in series 14, 15 are opened and closed alternately by a time switch 16. In another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the delivery pipe 4 opens into the top of the drum 2 which has a baffle (27) with peripheral vanes for imparting a rotating motion to the incoming hot water; in this embodiment fresh water is admitted into the pipe 3 instead of the drum. In another embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), a four way drain valve with an accumulator chamber is fitted instead of the valve 20.
