Abstract

1349937 Joining filter elements CROSLAND FILTERS Ltd 17 Sept 1971 [23 Sept 1970] 45212/70 Heading B1D [Also in Division F2] Two annular filter elements 10, 11 having end caps 12, 13 are secured together with sealing gasket 16 therebetween by a sleeve 17, whose end flange 18 engages the inner rim 15 of end cap 13 and whose other end is deformed outwards at 19 to attach it to rim 14 of end cap 12. During assembly, sleeve 17 is threaded upwards through aligned rims 14, 15 and flange 18 is spot-welded to rim 15, or otherwise held against axial movement while a tool (not shown) cuts and turns outwards circumferentially spaced portions of sleeve 17 and possibly corresponding parts of rim 14.
