1524482 Waveguide joints and seals SPINNER GmbH ELEKTROTECHNISCHE FABRIK 8 Jan 1976 [21 Jan 1975] 00632/76 Addition to 1401409 Heading H1W The sealing member used in the waveguide fitting disclosed in parent Specification 1,401,409 is modified in that the sealing ribs are dispensed with and the outer radial face of the seal made to conform with the substantially flat radial face of the extension piece and the out-turned flange of the waveguide. As shown in Fig. 5, the annular sealing member 10 has a radial face conforming to the radial face of the extension piece 14 and the flange 20 of the corrugated oval waveguide 16. The inner face of the seal conforms to the face of the clamping member 12 which may be flat (see Fig. 3, not shown) or provided with a ridge 30 and a groove 28. Alternative complementary shapes for the faces of the seal and the clamping member are shown in Fig. 8. Here, the seal is provided with a peripheral bead 36 which is radially deformed by the bevel 38. In other modifications (Figs. 9 to 12, not shown), the seal has one or more circumferential beads on its inner radial face, these beads being extended to surround the apertures for the clamping bolts.
