Abstract

1349152 Weighing apparatus W & T AVERY Ltd 5 Nov 1971 [10 Nov 1970] 53311/70 Heading G1W A weighing machine provides for selective display of weight readings in one or other of at least two systems of units, e.g. avoirdupois and metric, and also for display of the value of an applied load calculated at preselected prices per unit of weight based on the selected system of weight units. As shown, the chart has avoirdupois and metric weight scales 11, 13 and zones 12, 14 with concentric series of segments graduated in respective prices per unit weight based on avoirdupois and metric weight systems. The chart is used in an optical projection system such as that described in Specification 930262, the weight scales being read in conjunction with a fixed cursor, and the price scales with a radially movable cursor. The chart is mounted on a shaft connected to the lever system of the weighing apparatus by a rack and pinion. To change from one system of weight units to the other, the rack is disengaged from the pinion, and the shaft and chart indexed through 180 degrees. Normal zero adjustment is made after the rack and pinion have been re-engaged. As shown, the half load points of the weight scales are diametrically opposite one another. In Fig. 2, (not shown), the zero points of the weight scales are diametrically opposite.
