Abstract
1348759 Valves ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd 8 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 56698/72 Headings F2V and F2B A valve assembly comprises a valve stem 12 carrying a valve member 2, the stem having a collar 24 to which are fixed adjacent ends of a pair of bellows 16, 18, their remote ends being fixed to movable plates 49, 51 respectively which also carry the ends of a pair of outer bellows 26, 28 respectively whose adjacent ends are fixed to the valve casing. When the valve is in the open position, fluid entering the valve can flow into a chamber 50 via port 58. It can pass both to the inside and outside of the bellows arrangement. Between the inner and outer bellows is charged a buffer fluid via port 36. Similarly in the isolated chamber 48 above, buffer fluid is charged around the inside and outside of the bellows arrangement via port 52. Should one of the bellows 16, 18, 26, 28 rupture only a slow seepage of fluid occurs because the pressure differences across the bellows are small. Any fluid passing the sealing ring 15 is leaked off via passage 80.
