Abstract

1348687 Hose TECALEMIT SA 15 June 1971 [24 June 1970] 28050/71 Heading F2P A pipe (Fig. 1) for transferring fluids is made by chemically treating the external surface of a central PTFE based core tube 1 to enhance its adherence to an adhesive varnish, applying such a varnish thereto, winding a ribbon of unvulcanized filling material 2 on to the varnished core, applying at least one reinforcing layer of stainless steel braid 3 over the ribbon, applying over the or each said reinforcing layer a PTFE ribbon 4 whose two faces have been chemically treated to enhance their adherence with respect to an adhesive varnish and then made adhesive by application of such a varnish thereto, applying an external sheath 5 of stainless steel wires, and stabilizing or vulcanizing the hose. The chemical treatment of the PTFE may be with sodium/ammonia or sodium/naphthalene and the treated and varnished PTFE ribbon may be coated with a fluorinated elastomer. Materials.-The varnish may be chlorinated rubber or may be based on an isocyanate. The filler material may be fluorinated elastomer (e.g. a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene) or silicone elastomer.
