Abstract

1348488 Mineral mining picks WICKMAN WIMET Ltd 8 June 1971 [9 June 1970] 27811/70 Heading E1F The leading surface of a hard metal insert tipping a mineral-cutting pick incorporates a flat 18 extending in a plane transverse to the direction in which the pick is to be moved in use, said flat 18 being bounded by rearwardly diverging parts 20 of the leading surface, said paris 20 merging into the side walls 15 of the insert, which side walls 15 in turn merge into the convergent outer surfaces 16 of the insert, the surfaces 16 meeting the flat to form cutting edges. The flat preferably lies in a plane having a negative rake of preferably not more than 9‹.
