1348442 Electric conductor and collector systems MERLIN GERIN 10 Nov 1971 [16 Nov 1970 (2)] 52140/71 Addition to 1243467 Heading B7L In the electric transport system of the main Specification, each of the slidable contacts supported by the current collector 14 is subdivided into adjacent elementary contact parts 22, 22<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>11</SP> and 22<SP>111</SP> each of which is individually urged such as by springs 24 against one of the current feed conductors (12, 12<SP>1</SP> or 12<SP>11</SP>), Fig. 2 (not shown) which surround the collector 14 and define its path, so as to maintain electrical contact between the slidable contact and the feed conductor during oscillations of the current collector 14. Abutment means formed by guide shoes 56 and 58, which are urged towards the conductor rail (12<SP>1</SP>) by biasing springs 60 and 62, are held further from the conductor rail (12<SP>1</SP>) than the shoe parts 22 &c. while the collector 14 is central relative to the rails (12, 12<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP>) by which it is surrounded, but their surfaces 68 and 70 come into contact with one of the rails when off-centring occurs. Further abutment means 72 and 74 secured to the collector 14 are offset still further from the rails to supply guidance when greater off-centring occurs. The contact shoes may be transversely divided into a plurality of longitudinally spaced apart elementary shoe parts 22, 22<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>11</SP>, 22<SP>111</SP> as in Fig. 1 and/or longitudinally divided into parts 136 and 138 as in Fig. 3. When the rail 12, Fig. 3, is of generally V-shaped cross-section with a space 126 between the two plane surfaces 122 and 122<SP>1</SP>, the contact shoe may have guidance means formed by a median partition wall 148 extending into the space 126 to prevent excessive lateral movement of the shoe.
