1347570 Measuring linear dimensions A CHO 19 April 1971 [26 Feb 1970] 27203/71 Heading G1M An internal micrometer screw gauge has a rotary micrometer indicator drum 9 in driving connection with a movable probe 3 mounted in a housing 1 having a counter-probe abutment 5, and to which may be secured an extension counterprobe 5a, the probe 1 and counter-probe 5 or 5a being located diametrically of a bore to be measured by spring urged centring means having contact members for yieldable abutment with the wall of the bore. For measuring small diameter bores using the counter-probe 5 is used with centring means comprising a slide 29 pressed by a spring 31 and carrying a transverse member 26 provided with roller contact members 28a. Alternatively for measuring larger diameter bores counter-probes 5a of different sizes are used, each having an abutment roller 23 and provided with centring means comprising a slide 29a pressed by a spring 31a and carrying rollers 28 on a transverse member 27. In a further embodiment particularly for measuring small diameter bores the centring device comprises an assembly including part cylindrical contact formations 48 Fig. 8, (not shown). In a further embodiment the threaded pin 2 driving the probe 3 is driven by a worm gearing 50, 51 Fig. 12, (not shown).
