Abstract

1347229 Wet gas scrubber G A NILSSON 23 Aug 1972 [23 Aug 1971] 39219/72 Heading B1R Apparatus for purifying gas by means of atomised washing liquid comprises a cylindrical rotatable centrifugal chamber 1, closed and fixed to a driving means at one end 2 and communicating with a gas inlet 3 at the other end; a washing liquid inlet 14 into the chamber; and openings in the form of outwardly diverging slots or nozzles in the peripheral wall of the chamber. The peripheral wall is formed of a series of metal rings 8 separated by spacer members (9) such that a plurality of outlet openings are formed between the spacer members, Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively venturi shaped openings (13) may extend through the wall, Fig. 3, (not shown). The centrifugal chamber is enclosed in a housing 6 under the influence of a fan 16 to create a negative pressure and thus to enhance the atomisation effect of the liquid as it is thrown against the peripheral wall of the housing. The liquid is emitted into the chamber 1 from cylindrical nozzle head (15).
