Abstract

1347226 Dental pins B WEISSMAN 6 June 1972 26341/72 Heading A5R A dental anchor comprises two self-tapping threaded portions 38 to be anchored in a tooth stump, and is weakened at two peripheral grooves 39, 41, the groove 41 being positioned between the two portions 38, and the groove 39 between one of the portions 38 and a portion 42 shaped to co-operate with a dental chuck attachment 50, Fig. 8. On inserting the anchor into a preformed channel (28), Fig. 2 (not shown), of a tooth the anchor is rotated by the chuck until it reaches the bottom of the channel, when further rotation causes it to fracture at the groove 41 which has a smaller diameter than the groove 39, so leaving a threaded portion 38 in the channel. The remaining portion 38 can similarly be inserted into another channel (28), the anchor fracturing at the groove 39, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). The portion 42 consists of a cylindrical part 49 for guiding it into the chuck 50, and two flat faces 46 which co-operate with prongs 58 of the chuck to transfer torque from the chuck to the anchor. The chuck is connected to a dental power tool.
