Abstract

1346799 Printing apparatus KOENIG & BAUER AG 11 Nov 1971 52391/71 Heading B6C A forme cylinder 1 is formed with at least one longitudinal groove 2 which is bounded on each side by a portion of the surface of the forme cylinder having a radius of curvature which is smaller than the radius of curvature of the forme cylinder. Means are provided on the or each groove for clamping the leading and trailing ends of adjacent plates 3 to 6. The clamping means comprises a bar 9 which is connectible to the leading end of the plate and movable across a guide surface 17 which extends perpendicular to a plane containing the forme cylinder axis and extending radially through the groove. The plate trailing end clamping means comprise a plurality of bars 10 connectible to spaced portions of the trailing end and movable on the guide surface 17. Each clamping bar has a convex surface 11A and 11B facing out of the groove. A first planar surface 15A, 15B extends parallel to the guide surface and tangentially of the portion of the surface of the forme cylinder bounding the adjacent side of the groove and the convex surface of the clamping bar, and a second planar surface 15C, 15D extending tangentially from the opposite side of the convex surface of the clamping bar to the first planar surface. Compression springs 26 are mounted between each of the bars connectible to the trailing end and the adjacent portion of the bar which is connectible to the leading end. The latter bar carries locating pins for locating the printing plate on the cylinder.
