1346554 Thienyl-acetic acids and esters thereof ROUSSEL UCLAF 10 March 1972 [11 March 1971] 11448/72 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including optical isomers and racemates) where R<SP>1</SP> is H or C 1 to C 4 alkyl, R<SP>2</SP> is H or optionally substituted alkyl or is an N-heterocyclic alkyl radical and Ar is optionally substituted phenyl or is cyclohexyl or a heterocyclic residue, the group ArCO being attached at either of the α-positions, are made by acylation, esterification and/or saponification. Pharmaceutical preparations showing analgesic and anti-inflammatory actions contain (I) as active ingredient. Administration may be orally, topically, rectally, perlingually and transcutaneously.
