Abstract
134,648. Ozaki, H. Nov. 25, 1918. Filaments, supports for.-A support has a hook portion made from a strip so as to provide a filament-supporting surface curved both longitudinally and transversely. Sharp bends of the filament, and roughness of the supporting-surface, are thus avoided. The support A<2>, Figs. 2 and 3, may be made from a flat strip which is twisted through a right-angle at the middle of the straight portion c, so as to be elastic in all directions. Alternatively, a wire may be flattened at the end which is to be formed into the hook. Suitable materials for the supports are molybdenum, tungsten, osmium, platinum, tantalum, steel, nickel, and alloys. The arm and hook may be of different materials, for instance of nickel-steel and platinum respectively, welded together; or the whole support may be of nickel-steel, the hook being plated with platinum.
