Abstract

1346173 Electric couplings BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 6 May 1971 [8 May 1970] 22477/70 Heading H2E [Also in Division E2] A clamp for connecting a member, e.g. an electrical earthing wire, to a metallic plate 12 comprises a hook-shaped member 2 and a U- shaped wedge member 14 which is slidably secured to member 2 by means of a pin (not shown) which is forced through a hole 24 in one side 16 of wedge member 14 to project towards a web portion 6 of an arm 4 of member 2. Two inward-facing but non-opposite bearing points 8, 10 on member 2 engage opposite faces of plate 12, and wedge-member 14 is slid along arm 4 until its base 18 is firmly wedged with its upper arcuate surface 28 against the underside of arm 4, and feet 30 (which may be serrated) on its lower surface in good electrical contact with plate 12. An earthing wire (not shown) may be sweated into a blind hole 20 in wedge member 14. To remove the wedge-member 14 from arm 4, holes 22, 24 are brought into register with a hole 26 in arm 4, and the pin in hole 24 is punched out by a punch extending to holes 22, 26.
